Cape Town Swing is a volunteer-led community.
2026 Pricing Update
Cape Town Swing is mainly a volunteer-driven community. Operationally, it has depended heavily on volunteer effort and community generosity to remain accessible over the years. However, over time, the costs of running CTS have risen while we kept prices at a minimum — venue rental, teaching, administration, and basic operational expenses. Unfortunately, this was not financially sustainable.
The most recent pricing updates reflect a careful review of our finances and what it realistically takes to keep CTS running without placing unsustainable pressure on a small group of people.

Even with this increase, CTS is expected to operate very close to break-even, and staff will continue to receive only small stipends. The budget has been finely tuned so that most months simply cover costs, with very little margin.
Our goal with this is:
• to cover all our costs each month while maintaining a small margin to start offering small, shared stipends for essential coordination work in the future
• to keep CTS stable, transparent, and sustainable over the long term
What this means in practice
• CTS remains volunteer-driven
• Stipends would be modest and distributed among a small team
• Every rand goes back into the community and organising events
CTS continues to rely on shared stewardship, with members, volunteers, teachers, and organisers all contributing in different ways.

Pay It Forward (coming soon)
We would also like to develop a Pay It Forward system as part of our longer-term accessibility approach — helping expand access in a way that’s shared and sustainable.
If you’re interested in helping us shape or build this, we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you for being part of CTS, and for the many ways you contribute — through dancing, volunteering, showing up, and helping care for what we share.
