Time

Location

Observatory Community Centre
Rawson St, Observatory

This 3-hour beginner workshop will introduce you to the swing out, a cornerstone piece of the lindy hop. You’ll learn the 8-count rhythm basic that’s traditionally used in a swing out, and build the partnering skills to create stretchy and expressive swing outs, forming a foundation for swing out variations later on in your Lindy Hop journey.

The complete Beginner series includes the following 4-week courses & workshops:

  • Jazz FUNdamentals
  • 6-count & Solo Jazz
  • Swing Out Foundations
  • Charleston Essentials

Once you’re well-versed in the basics of Lindy Hop, which includes content from all these courses, you’ll be invited to take Improver-level classes/workshops at any of our locations. These Beginner courses will be repeated periodically (also as weekend workshops), providing more flexibility on how you’d like to complete them as a whole.

Teachers: Muriel & Nicole
